Accessibility Statement
01Our Commitment
MKAY Event Services is committed to making www.mkayevents.com accessible and usable for the widest possible audience, including people of determination and senior citizens. As a company that builds experiences for tens of thousands of people at a time, we believe that principle should extend to how we present ourselves online.
We are continuing to improve accessibility as an ongoing process, not a one-time fix. This statement describes what we have implemented, what we know still needs work, and how to reach us if something on the Site is difficult to use.
02Accessibility Standard
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), as our reference standard, targeting Level AA conformance. WCAG is organised around four principles — content should be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust ("POUR") — and is the standard referenced by most accessibility laws worldwide, including the UAE's National Digital Accessibility Policy, which asks UAE digital platforms to meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA as a minimum.
03Conformance Status
Partially conformant, self-assessed. This means parts of the Site meet WCAG 2.2 AA, but the Site has not yet been through a full independent accessibility audit. We are publishing this statement transparently rather than claiming a conformance level we haven't verified — the honest status will be updated as we test further and as issues are fixed.
This page should be revisited once a full manual and automated accessibility audit has been completed, and the conformance status updated to reflect actual test results rather than a self-assessment.
04Measures We Take
Accessibility considerations built into the current Site include:

Reduced motion support — animated elements (the scrolling ticker, scroll-reveal effects, and the hero background animation) respect the prefers-reduced-motion operating system setting, and slow or stop for visitors who have that preference enabled.

Visible keyboard focus states — interactive elements (links, buttons) show a clear focus outline for people navigating by keyboard rather than a mouse.

Semantic HTML structure — headings, sections, and landmarks are used in a logical order to support screen readers and other assistive technology.

Responsive layout — the Site adapts to different screen sizes and supports browser-level text resizing and zoom.

Legible type at scale — body copy is set at a minimum comfortable reading size, with generous line height for longer passages such as this one.
05Known Limitations
We believe in being upfront about where the Site currently falls short. Known limitations include:

Colour contrast has not been formally audited. Our brand palette leans on muted grey text against a near-black background for a premium, editorial feel — this needs to be checked against the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text) and adjusted anywhere it falls short.

No skip-to-content link is currently implemented, which would let keyboard and screen reader users bypass repeated navigation on every page.

Decorative visuals are not yet marked up for assistive technology — for example, the animated hero background and portfolio placeholder graphics should be explicitly hidden from screen readers (aria-hidden) since they carry no informational content.

Real event photography and video have not yet been added. Once they are, every meaningful image will need descriptive alt text, and any video (including the planned event show-reel) will need captions and, where practical, a transcript.

Form accessibility has not been tested with a screen reader — once contact and enquiry forms are built out, they need properly associated labels, clear error messaging, and a logical tab order.
We are treating this list as an active punch list, not a permanent disclaimer — items will be removed as they are fixed, and this statement will be updated accordingly.

07 Assistive Technology Compatibility
We intend for this Site to be compatible with:

Compatibility above reflects our design intent. It should be confirmed through actual testing with current versions of these tools before being stated as a verified fact.
